The bar
L'Wren opened in 2018 on a stretch of 5th Avenue better known for taquerias and bakeries than for cocktails. The idea was simple: a real cocktail bar for the neighborhood. Drinks made with care, a wine list from small family-run producers, beer from Brooklyn and Queens, and a food menu you'd actually want to eat with a drink in your hand.
The room is warm and low-lit, with a long wood bar up front and couches and low tables in the back. It's the kind of place where a Tuesday drink turns into dinner, and where a birthday can take over the whole room.
The drinks
The cocktail list leans on mezcal, tequila, whiskey and gin, with house touches like a tajin rim, chamomile-infused whiskey or blackberry jam. Most cocktails come by the glass or the pitcher. Happy hour takes $2 off every drink until 7 PM, every day.
The food
Bites are made for the middle of the table: Korean style wings, sticky ribs, sliders, tostadas, fried shrimp, Thai salmon, and chips with salsa or guacamole. Most of it can be made vegetarian, and a lot of it travels well for pickup and delivery.
The comedy club
In 2026, the room in the back became the home of Sunset Park Comedy Club: live stand-up every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night with working New York comedians. It's Sunset Park's first proper comedy room, and it's in the back of our bar.
